This is my first gun after getting back into shooting about 10 years ago. The Marlin Model 60 is a real treat to shoot, and being a .22LR very inexpensive to shoot.
I knew I wanted to buy a .22 but was not sure what to get, I had years ago, a .22 bolt action with the tubular magazine, I found it a little inconvenient to reload, having to hold the gun pull the rod and insert the bullets. So I was looking for something with a box magazine , maybe the Ruger 10/22. as I looked around I realized that there are so may synthetic stocks out there, I’m a fan of wood stocks, and it just happened that I found this little Marlin Model 60 with a beautiful wood stock at Canadian Tire. The price was right so I brought it home, and I could not be happier, yes it’s kind of a pain to reload at the range, but it shoots so well. As usual the best ammo to put down range with it is the old trusty CCI Mini – Mag HP ammo. Another one I have good luck with is Blazer bulk packs, which I think is CCI ammo. I have even shot the Winchester and Herters bulk packs, not as good as the CCI made ammo, but also works ok. Out a box of 500 of the cheapy bulk ammo, I might have some missed cycles each shoot.
I am now at the age that it’s hard to see down Iron sights, so I put a Simmons 22 scope on the gun, it was nice that the gun has a dovetail scope mount on the top.
Below is a target from a recent shoot at the indoor range I go to , it’s a 25 meter range and a fun place to shoot.
